On August 18, 2018, Stumble Safari was first launched. To say that my life has changed in the last year is an understatement. I am forever grateful for my readers, for my friends and family, and the blogging community for their neverending support. On Stumble Safari’s first anniversary, I would like to reflect on why I started this blog in the first place, and how I expect it to grow and change in the next year.

My First Trips

My passion for travel truly began with my second trip abroad: a veterinary internship in Thailand. I prepared for, but never experienced, “culture shock” upon arriving in this new country on the other side of the world. Instead, I felt a fascination and curiosity at these new cultures, experiences, and food that were so normal to locals that seemed so different to me. I dove right in, eating new food and trying new things. I even (unfortunately) experienced my first bad bout of traveler food poisoning.

Now, while writing this article, I am currently in my ninth country. This number may be small compared to many other travelers out there, but my passion has only grown. I care more about the experiences and adventures than the overall number of countries I’ve stepped foot in. However, this number will only grow!

Animal Tourism and Stumble Safari

With a heavy background in veterinary medicine and a degree in Biopsychology and Animal Behavior, I was immediately intrigued by the animal tourism industry. After working with elephants rescued from the tourism industry, this passion was rooted in place. From there on, my ultimate goal as a travel blogger was not only to inspire others to see the world, but to do so in a meaningful and respectful way to animals, wildlife, and nature.

The Future of Stumble Safari

As my business grows, I plan to travel as much as possible. I owe it to my readers to educate and investigate the good, bad, and ugly of animal tourism. I hope to encourage others to see the world and its incredible animals, and to love them as much as I do.

The plan for Stumble Safari includes more excursions around the world. A book about animal tourism *may* be in the works, as well as a YouTube channel!

I want to thank you all so much for supporting me. I know I am beyond lucky to make it to a year, as many bloggers become frustrated and quit before this point.

You can continue to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I love talking to my readers and other travelers. Feel free to send me a message!
