Disney: the most magical place on Earth. Whether you believe this statement or not, the massive company creates some pretty massive nostalgia for adult visitors to the parks. Adults are not allowed to wear costumes as young visitors can. It can break the magic for some of the young visitors to see their favorite characters walking around…not acting like the character. However, Disney fans created a loophole in order to dress up at the parks: Disneybounding.
Disneybounding: What is it?
Disneybounding is the act of dressing as a Disney character in normal day-to-day clothes. To create these looks, you simply grab items already in your closet! Fans go all out on these looks, and they are all created using everyday clothes.
By designing a character’s outfit using everyday clothing, fans can still look like their favorite characters, without breaking the magic for younger visitors. It will be obvious you aren’t actually Snow White, Cinderella, or Moana!
Disneybounding Culture
There is a MASSIVE culture surrounding Disneybounding. Just search #disneybound on Instagram to see the thousands of creative outfits in the parks. There are major influencers on the platform that solely promote Disney and Disneybound culture!
Disneybounding also extends to other Disney themed activities. People will come dressed up to Disney trivia or karaoke nights at a local bar, to parties, and for Halloween! Just search “Disneybound outfits” on Pinterest to get some great inspiration.
Disneybounding On Dapper Day
Dapper Day at the parks takes Disneybounding to a whole new level! During these special days, visitors not only dress as their favorite characters using everyday clothes, but they dress up as DAPPER characters! Disney visitors are dressed to the nines while emulating their favorite characters at the same time. To check when Dapper Day is at your nearest park, look here!
