Disney World is one of my favorite places to experience, especially during special events! One of my favorite events of the year is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, held on specific dates from late August through Halloween. I have attended this event multiple times, once for my 22nd birthday! For adults (like me) who can’t handle real haunted houses and scary events, Mickey’s Halloween Party is the perfect event to get into the Halloween spirit without having to step foot in a haunted house. Here’s an adult’s guide to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!
Costumes at Mickey’s Halloween Party
One of my favorite things about this event is the attendees’ costumes! Disney has some relatively strict rules for adult costumes, so people let their creativity shine! Most people are wearing some Disney-inspired costumes, but not everyone. I have seen so many creative DIY costumes including Kevin and Russell from UP and the Cheetah Girls!
You don’t have to go all out on a costume. Themed t-shirts are more than acceptable, especially in the Florida heat. I attended the party with my partner in matching t-shirts, and people loved them!
The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular Show is hands-down the best show I have ever seen Disney put on. It is performed two or three times every night during the Halloween event, and it is well worth waiting for a good spot. Performed in front of Cinderella’s Castle, the Sanderson Sisters come out to make their potion from the Hocus Pocus movie. However, they need help from fellow Disney villains to obtain all of the ingredients. The performance is spectacular, and you get to see many of the villains that are rarely out during a normal day at Disney! The show is concluded with “I Put a Spell on You” from the movie, performed live. The music, dancing, costumes, and special effects are well worth it!
Boo to You Parade
The Halloween parade, called “Boo to You” is one of Disney’s best. Princesses, as well as villains, perform alongside incredible dancers and special effects for Halloween. Ghouls and ghosts from the Haunted Mansion appear, as well as grave diggers with sparks flying from their shovels! I do not typically enjoy parades in general, but I make an effort every year to see Boo to You at Mickey’s Halloween Party.
Trick or Treating at Mickey’s Halloween Party!
Nothing says Halloween party like Trick or Treating! Guests (even adults!) get to collect candy throughout the park at specified locations. No cheap candy is handed out at Disney! I walked away from the event with a bag full of Dove chocolate, skittles, m&ms, and other top-notch candy. For those with food allergies, Disney has you covered with special, safe treats as well. Candy stations are very well marked, and special colored bags are available upon request that signifies different food allergies to the cast members.
With low crowds, special performances, and all the free candy you could possibly eat, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is perfect for adults as well as kids. The event lasts from 11 pm to midnight depending on the date, so by the end of the night, there are typically only adults left. Rides are still open and often have extremely low wait times.
If you love Disney or hate scary Halloween events, I suggest checking out this party!
Note: The Halloween Party overlaps Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival. Drink some amazing wine during the day, and head to Magic Kingdom that night for the party!

Fun times. Mickey’s Halloween Party is a lot of fun. We did it last October and my the whole family had a blast. It was kind of nice too that they gave away candy and regular snacks and healthier options. We did the Halloween party our first night there and got enough snacks from it to last the next three days at Disneyland and California theme parks.
The best part about the Halloween party is meeting and taking pictures with all the villains.
I agree. I love seeing the villains out for once, as some of them are my favorite Disney characters. I loved getting some healthier snacks, like applesauce packets, and eating them while watching the parade!
This sounds like a fun event to go to with the family! Definitely something I will look into! Thanks for sharing.
You’re very welcome!
This sounds like so much fun! Makes me want to take a trip to Disney. I had no idea about this. Great post!
You should definitely visit in late September/early October to attend the International Food and Wine Festival in the day and the Halloween party at night!
Oh nice! That sounds like a lot of fun!
